VOICE OF INDIA: A flop show!
No, there was nothing extraordinary in the weekend episodes of Amul Star Voice of India, except for the guests on the show. The Friday episode brought with it an air of fun and humour with laughter king Shekhar Suman. With him came the youngest sensational singer Atif Aslam as the second celebrity judge.
The evening kick-started with the rocking performances of Atif with his hits Tere Bin and a number from his latest album Meri Kahani. This was followed by powerful performances by the five finalists of the show - Irfan, Ishmeet, Abhaas, Toshi and Harshit. Each of the competitors showcased his musical talents by singing two songs - one song from old classic films and the other from the latest hits. Each tried his best to outdo the other and to secure his position in the next round.
And Shekhar being Shekhar not only encouraged the contestants, but didn’t spare the judges from his funny remarks.
When his observant eyes caught Alka Yagnik a little low and upset, he tried to cheer her up by teasing her and asking if she was missing Abhijeet who couldn’t make it for the episode for some reason. He also asked her if she would like him to sit on Abhijeet’s empty chair, since his wife’s name also happens to be Alka. Atif hardly spoke anything on the show and even refused to declare the results. But Shekhar made up for him by playing a dual role and spoke on his behalf as well.
He consoled Irfan on getting the lowest vote and condemned the viewers for not sending SMSes and held them responsible for his ouster.
The Saturday episode was even brighter with the Bollywood beauty Dia Mirza and Manoj Bajpai as celebrity guests on the sets. The contestants’ joy knew no bounds as they sang for Dia and made her share the stage with them during their renditions.
Everything went of well except for the sugary comments by Dia, which seemed too sweet to be true at times. Manoj was at his best, cheering for the contestants and motivating them to sing even better.
The show wrapped up in a rather boring fashion and unlike other days, the episode hardly witnessed any drama or heightened emotional remarks.
Shaan seemed to have a tough time with his rather unmanageable locks. He badly needs a haircut.
