There was a major fire scare recently on Sahara Filmy’s Bollywood Ka Boss when Boman Irani was shooting for the promo of the show.
In the promo, Boman who is the quizmaster on this Bollywood-based show was playing a don encircled with four Russian molls. It was an elaborate outdoor sequence filled with lots of action sequences, explosions, fireballs, car-chases and tons of action, with fire as the mainstay of the scene.
During the shoot, unknown to anybody one of the gas cylinders near Boman and the girls started leaking and violently spun out of control. The fire in the nozzle of the machine was still on. Everybody started running helter-skelter fearing an explosion. Fortunately, the situation was brought under control but not before scaring the wits out of all present!
Boman and the crew had a tough time trying to ensure that the girls act with the correct emotions in spite of the terse situation; more so Boman had to maintain a composed demeanour despite being equally shaken by the whole incident.
Though Boman was not available for a quote on the issue, Aashish Kapoor, Creative Head, Sahara Filmy who was present on the occasion elaborated, "It was a very scary experience. It so happened that we had flame-bearers all over the set for added effect and 8-10 cylinders kept encircled were fuelling the flames. One of them started leaking all of a sudden with such a force that we all were unnerved."
"Just then a flame fighter’s torch came within licking distance of that cylinder itself and although the flamer-bearer’s presence of mind averted a major disaster since she pulled back the torch at the last second, it was enough for all of us to scream and run. Pandemonium broke out, especially since it was a crisis situation with so much fire around!" he exclaimed.
Praising Boman Irani for being very helpful in such a situation, Kapoor further adds, "It was mainly to Boman’s credit that things returned to normalcy in a short while. Despite being very shocked initially, he quickly regained his composure, took stock of the station and one by one cajoled all to return. Hats off to him for doing all that despite being such a star. It’s very rare to find such a down-to-earth star who puts his worries behind him and surges forward to help others."
