South Indian cinema’s superstar Kamal Hasan’s next release Dashavtaram is said to become India’s most expensive film with a budget of close to Rs 150 crores.
Director K Ravikumar is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that his film beats Tamil cinema’s biggest hit to date - Rajnikanth’s Sivaji: THE BOSS.
Sources close to the film say that Kamal Hasan himself is very excited about the role which is pegged as the superstar’s best ever work till date.
“Ravikumar has already fetched Rs 2.5 crores from Sony BMG for the music of the film. But that’s not all. Kamal himself is getting involved every step of the way to ensure that the film is the biggest hit of South cinema,” says our source.
And one such publicity step taken by the men behind the film is to fly down Hollywood superstar Jackie Chan for the film. “Ravikumar decided on bringing Jackie Chan down for the film. It’s not come cheap but that hasn’t stopped him. He will be paying him close to Rs 4 crores to make it to the event and all for about 30 minutes. Aishwarya Rai and Amitabh Bachchan are also expected to attend the event with the rest of the star cast and crew,” says the source. Dashavtaram will show Hasan in 10 distinctive roles - first actor in the world to do so - whilst Asin Thottumkal will be seen in a double role and Mallika Sherawat also plays a leading role in the film. Himesh Reshammiya is scoring the music for the film. The film is expected to release on April 10th 2008.
