Tarun Mansukhani’s directorial debut has finally been given a title - Dostana. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra. Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is producing the film.
Dostana will be shot entirely in Miami, US starting April and is expected to show Priyanka in a very sexy look. Short skirts, halter tops and other beach wear will form majority of Chopra’s wardrobe. Previously Aishwarya Rai was to play the female lead but soon after marriage she backed out - many suggest she found the look too sexy. Bobby Deol makes a special appearance in the film.
Although the film is said to be a love triangle, Johar has often said that it is something that has never been seen before. The buzz in the industry suggests that one of the male leads might be playing a gay character in the film.
Dostana (1980)
Bollywood has already seen a film titled Dostana which released in 1980 and starred Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrugan Sinha and Zeenat Aman. Vijay (Bachchan) and Ravi (Sinha) are best friends who do not even question each other about their careers. Vijay, a police officer and Ravi, a lawyer, while the former catches the criminals who smuggle, Ravi on the other hand bail those criminals. One day, both Vijay and Ravi meet
Sheetal at different places and times, and both fancy the same girl, Sheetal (Aman), but Vijay’s love was more serious. Ravi admits his love for Sheetal to Vijay and is devastated but Vijay decides to sacrifice his love and give Sheetal’s hand. However, there was a misunderstanding when a villain in the film decided to stir up Vijay and Ravi’s friendship by showing a photo of Vijay and Sheetal to Ravi turning friends into fierce foes.
