As Sanjay Dutt prepares to launch his own production house, Sanjay and Maanyata Dutt Productions, Maanyata has already started exhibiting she is the boss! Not only has she taken charge of every single department related to his company but is also actively involved in the script approvals for Dutt.
A producer, who wanted to sign the Munna Bhai star for his film, narrated, “I was directed to Maanyata first when I went on to sign Sanjay Dutt. She heard the story narration and declined to forward our proposal to Dutt, calling it not worth of the actor’s stature!”
“We were in for a shock to what Maanyata said because it was a fairly good two hero project with an estimated budget of Rs 18 crore. She also reasoned that she thought the role did not suit Dutt. We wanted to meet him as well but were not allowed to and had to go back dejected,” the producer added.
“Baba (Dutt) has undergone a total metamorphosis after he has come out of his long stint in jail and been together with Maanyata. He has also got himself a lot of projects signed plus working at breakneck speed to complete his pending projects. He doesn’t have much time on hand to sit down for story narrations and since he trusts Maanyata’s judgement, he has given her full freedom to take care of his career the way she thinks is right for him,” a close pal of the controversial star told us.
He further added, “While he was in jail, Maanyata had zeroed down upon two places for setting up their production company’s office. Both these places were in the Bandra area - one near the station and another near Bandstand. It was understood that she was waiting for his final approval to choose one of these two places. But when Baba saw these two places he is supposed to have told Maanyata to choose whichever she wants, he would just start working from there.”
An industry source also added, “Dutt is assembling a core team for their production company and while few of these people are his own choices, Maanyata is taking extra time to finalise those recommended by Dutt’s close pals. It is almost as if she wants only those whom she is extremely comfortable with.”
