Juhi Chawla, who was last seen in Swami, is playing a pivotal character in Ravi Chopra’s Bhoothnath. We caught up with the actress for a chat on the film and bit more.
How was it working with the Chopras?
“Actually, I was offered the role of Draupati in Mahabharata but had to leave it for QSQT. Since then I was in regular tough with Mr B R Chopra since I always wanted to work with him. I am finally getting a chance after 15 years.”
Tell us something about the film?
“There is a kid who keeps playing with a ghost but both his parents don’t know about it. Eventually they come to know about it. I am playing the kid’s mother. The family has just shifted to this big house. In a nutshell there is a lot of fun, drama and emotion in the film.”
How was it working with Amitabh and SRK?
“I have earlier worked with Amitji in Ek Rishta. I was so nervous rendering my lines in front of him but this time I was overjoyed that he was playing Bhoothnath. I think no one could have done a better job. As the story moves along you start loving the ghost because it has been portrayed so well by Amitji.
Regarding SRK, we haven’t worked together for the last 4-5 years. When we met on the sets for the first time we discussed how life has changed. There was a point when we did so many films together. But we relived all those good old days so it was great.”
You have sung a song in the film for the first time. Tell us something about it.
“I am thankful to Vivek. It was because of him that I got a chance to sing for myself. For the last few years I have been practicing on a regular basis. It was a totally new experience for me to stand in the dubbing studio with headphones and sing in the sur. But I loved it and I am glad that I have the song with Amitji.”
