Anushka has gotten really lucky as she makes a dream debut opposite King Khan in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana di Jodi, just like Deepika who made it big with Om Shanti Om in 2007.The pretty nineteen year old who came to Bombay from Bangalore on wendell Rodericks’ insistence, will portray the movie’s 16 year old heroine with Khan’s forty year old hero. Anushka is a 5′9” stunner with lovely hair and skin, not to mention a great body. She has a contract with Sunsilk for their Silk and Shine range, Whisper and Fiat Palio.
The leggy lass was chosen to be the finale model for Wendell Roderick’s’ Spring Summer ‘07 showcase at the Lakme India Fashion Week in 2007. Speaking about her, the famous designer says, ” I spotted a great potential in her and got her to Bombay to model for me. I am so happy for her now that is making her Bollywood debut.”
So what made him cast her as the finale model for his show? “Oh she has a great versatilty to her. She looks so innocent, so fresh and so clean, just like a girl next door. When she smiles her face lights up, and that is so joyful!” says wendell in praise of his discovery.
He feels she well excel in Bollywood.” Anushka has a very expressive and emotive face and she can convey happy ex-pressions and sadness with equal elan. She is a superb model and the grace and great body will help too,” says Wendell.
When she is not modeling, the future superstar catches up on her sleep, meets friends and studies economics through correspondence. She loves reading as well. She has so much to do and so little time.With a name like Anushka, meaning ‘grace’ she was born to be a model.
It was at the age of 15, while other girls were mugging textbooks for their board exams, she walked the ramp for the very first time. Looking back, she feels that it was a terrible experience, because she walked as if she were walking on the street. She also participated in the Pantene Zoom Elite Model Look India in 2004. In the past four years, she has surely honed herself to become a graceful and sought after model.
While she loves her job, she dislikes the working hours, in the sense that there are no fixed timings and nothing starts on time. Moreover, even models are unwell; they have to walk the ramp. It is her dream to endorse a luxury skin brand.
