In an industry shrouded with gloom, Shahrukh Khan says he hopes to bring the smiles back on people’s faces with his latest movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi .
Recently, when the superstar saw the movie at a special screening held for the cast and crew, he laughed and cried while watching the film which is set for worldwide release on Friday.
“The movie is funny. But when I watched it, I cried and I laughed and I cried because I felt that by killing innocent, normal people, they (terrorists) are denying us the simple pleasures of life,” SRK is quoted by Associated Press.
Though Khan has not promoted the film - because he doesn’t feel like doing it at a time when people are still mourning the loss of innocent lives in the recent Mumbai terror attacks - he hopes the movie will leave the audience with positive thoughts.
“I can’t tell people it will get you out of your sadness, but I can assure you that the two hours and 20 minutes is going to be great fun…we’re hoping to make people smile a little and go back with some nice, good thoughts,” SRK is quoted.
The movie has SRK playing an unsophisticated guy-next-door who changes himself to win the heart of the woman he loves. It’s a character much unlike the larger-than-life roles SRK often plays.
“The hero in this film is not awesome, not someone you want to be. The hero in this film is ordinary like you and me,” says the self-effacing superstar, who, by no means is ordinary.
The movie, introducing newcomer Anushka Sharma , also marks the comeback of Aditya Chopra to direction after eight long years.
