It is after a long time that Bhagyashree will be seen in a movie. The actor admits that she is no less excited that she will see herself on the big screen.
After a point, I had given up acting on the big screen and I was content with it because I felt that it’s better than working in a bad film. I was not ready to work in a random film just for the sake of doing so. I told myself that unless I get the right script there’s no point in green-lighting projects,” says the actor who’s last proper release was Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (2006).
But she says that when her close friend Ananth Mahadevan contacted her for a small role opposite Suniel Shetty in Naxalite film Red Alert - The War Within, she just couldn’t say no to it.
“It was the role of a simple housewife which is far removed from normal Bollywood fare. I am playing the wife of a normal simpleton who gets sucked into the Naxalite movement. I will be portraying the trials and tribulations that a normal village girl goes through and when she has no clue about the bigger ideals of Naxalism or the anti-establishment theories,” she says, adding, “After reading what Ananthgave me (the script) I realised that I simply cannot say no to this project. I am excited to be a part
of it.”
Bhagyashree jokes about the fact that everybody says that it’s a miracle that she still maintains her svelte figure and that too in spite of being a mother to three children and having crossed forty years of age!
“My husband (Himalaya Dassani) says that I drink his blood (woh bolte hain ki main uska khoon peeti hoon),” she jokes, “and that is why I am still so thin. I still do keep an eye on what I am eating and I do workout regularly. Rest of it I guess is in my genes,” she laughs.
