The casting of Abbas-Mustan’s next film, Race 2, is in progress and shooting for the film is expected to begin in January 2011. However, Kareena Kapoor, who was earlier signed opposite Saif Ali Khan in the film, has opted out of it; the reason being John Abraham.
According to sources, “Kareena and John have had a history of problems. The rivalry started when John shot to fame in Bollywood. Kareena was also upset as John was preferred over Shahid Kapur in Karan Johar’s home production Kaal. Kareena and Shahid have been known to make fun of John and during an episode of Koffee with Karan, Kareena even said that John is a wooden actor and he is someone she wouldn’t like to work with.
Even though this was a long time ago and Kareena and Shahid have broken up since then, the rivalry is far from over. Now that John has signed on to play the negative role in Race 2, Kareena has opted out. Other actors in the film include Anil Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. However, producer Ramesh Taurani and director duo Abbas-Mustan have to find a replacement for Kareena.
