Any other actor would have grabbed half-a-dozen projects after a huge hit like Golmaal Returns. But Tusshar Kapoor hasn’t signed even one film in almost a year.
Starting September, though, he has four releases coming up - Love you Mr Kalaakar, Run Bhola Run, Shor and Hum Tum Aur Shabana. Right now, he’s most thrilled about Rajshri Productions’ Love You Mr Kalakaar, his first solo film in a long time.
"I agree that comedy has worked well for me but I started out with a romantic film, Mujhe Kuchh Kehna Hai, and people have forgotten that," he says. "I want to prove that I can carry a film on my shoulder. That’s important for me," he adds.
Kapoor says he didn’t like the scripts that came his way after Golmaal. "Instead of repeating myself, I preferred to wait," he says. The gamble paid off when he got offers like Sagar Bellary’s Hum Tum Aur Shabana and his home-production, Shor. "Shor is an interesting script with three tracks running parallel," he says.
Would his career graph have had more peaks had he planned it better? "I’ve never planned my career. I went with what scripts came my way. But, I’m happy now," he says.
