Goods new to Taiwanese as Taiwan authorities decided to let Ang Lee’s second Venice Film Festival Golden Lion award film “Lust, Caution” 色·戒 show uncensored in cinemas.
This was the decision of a five-member government committee after voted unanimously on Friday that the film could be released rated “R” without any censorship.
The senior secretary of Taiwan’s Government Information Office Pan Shun-yun said: “Those scenes were not so severe they needed to be cut or blocked,” he added: “We felt the sex scenes were natural, so there was no need to do anything to them.”
“Lust, Caution” is based on a short spy-story by Eileen Chang during the Sino-Japanese war. There are many sex scenes and some violent scenes in the movie.
“Lust, Caution” will be showing in Taiwan on Sept. 24, 2007.
