Priyanka Chopra, the most popular Bollywood actress among kids, will be involved in the creation of a new superheroine for comic books, animation and games, featuring her. She has joined hands with Virgin Comics, a company founded by Virgin Atlantic hotshot Sir Richard Branson, author Deepak Chopra, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and entrepreneurs Sharad Devarajan, Gotham Chopra and Suresh Seetharaman, for the venture.

The new ’content relationship’ between the company and her, makes Priyanka the first Miss World to create a superheroine property.

Priyanka Chopra said, "I love cartoons and animation, so being able to create my own original superheroine with Virgin’s amazing talents of artists and storytellers is a dream come true."

Virgin Comics CEO, Sharad Devarajan, said that Priyanka Chopra was an ideal partner for the project. "Priyanka is a real life heroine who embodies both sophistication and beauty and together we plan on creating a new superheroine character that captures this spirit and continues Virgin’s mission of redefining the Indian character entertainment industry," he said.

The superheroine’s story is still under development. According to Virgin, the plot basically deals with an adopted girl who discovers she has a far greater role to play in life as she is the latest in a line of princesses with great mystical power and a sworn duty to take down evil wherever it lurks.

The story will first come out as a comic book series in 2008 and Virgin plans on ’aggressively’ working with Priyanka to develop it across various media like animation games and a theatrical live-action film.

Virgin Comics President, Suresh Seetharaman, said, "Priyanka is an actress adored by millions and I am confident this superheroine will be an exciting and fun entertainment character for people of all ages."

Vinita Bangard, COO Percept Talent Management, who negotiated the relationship, said, "We are thrilled to bring together two strong iconic brands from their own domains (Priyanka Chopra and Virgin Comics) creating a superheroine property with Priyanka will ensure reach to its target audience and create a buzz amongst the readers."
