The release of Amitabh Bachchan’s film Gangotri has been postponed by a week because no multiplexes want to screen it. Gangotri, a Bhojpuri-Hindi bilingual, is a sequel to the superhit Bhojpuri film - Ganga.
Gangotri was slated for a November 9 release, along with Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om and Ranbir Kapoor’s Saawariya. Needless to say, producer Deepak Sawant is a very disappointed man. While this may have been his most ambitious project so far, the multiplex owners clearly don’t want to miss out on the OSO-Saawariya wave.
Confirming the news, producer Deepak Sawant told us, "We did not manage to get enough theatres to screen the film. Saawariya and Om Shanti Om have blocked all the multiplexes. So December 16 is the only option we were left with." Sawant who used to be a make-up man to Amitabh Bachchan made it big in the Bhojpuri film industry with Ganga. Gangotri, which stars the Big B along with Hema Malini, Bhoomika Chawla, Manoj Tiwari, and Aroona Irani is a sequel to this superhit. Del.Icio.Us Tags: SHOCKING!
