Married to Lata, an English literature graduate, hailing from an elite Iyengar family in 1980, Rajni has two daughters (Aishwarya and Soundarya) who are carefully kept away from the limelight. Lata herself a versatile singer, now runs a school called ‘The Ashram’. The couple indulges in a lot of charity, like converting his Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam into a charitable trust to help the poor and needy, sharing his movie income with important persons in his life and returning money back to the producers if his movie is a flop like Baba. He is also a very spiritual and holy man who goes to the Himalayas to meditate during his lesuire time.
Rajinikanth, for many years was requested by his fans to stand in the State election of Tamil Nadu, which has consistently resisted entering politics directly but has shown interest in politics indirectly.

A bit of a recluse, he may be at heart, but everyone who’s had the privilege of a darshan with the thalaivar has come away with a spring in his step, and a warm glow in his heart. Warm, friendly and affable, he’s the sort who deserves all the superstardom he’s earned. Such men, indeed, are rare.
LONG LIVE RAJNIKANTH
