Anil Kapoor discounted recent tabloid reports that his daughter Sonam Kapoor was dating Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh’s son Ranbir Kapoor, saying they were just childhood friends.Kapoor turned 53 on December 24 and was felicitated on his birthday at his residence by Indian Films-Studio 18, the distributors for Welcome, Anil’s latest release, which has made an impressive opening at the box office."They are childhood friends to be honest and we are family friends, so obviously they hang out together, but there is nothing of that sort," Anil told the gathered and inquisitive media.Anil, who has endeared himself to audiences with his mischievous good looks and excellent acting, carries his age very well, always looking fit and dapper."I don’t consciously try to work on my looks and appearance," he says. "I have never done that because I always go with the character.
I feel people not only want to see good acting on screen, but they also want the person on the screen to look like the character."On screen Anil continues to romance leading ladies such as Katrina Kaif and Mallika Sherawat who are only slightly older than his 21-year-old daughter Sonam.Anil has been attached for a Hollywood film to be directed by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Sunshine), part of which is being filmed in Mumbai.His forthcoming films include Yash Raj Films’ Tashan, Subhash Ghai’s Yuvraj.He continues to be active as a producer too.
