Sunil Shetty has signed Sanjay Dutt for his next, to be produced under his home banner Popcorn Motion Pictures Private Ltd. This yet untitled film shall be directed by Sunil’s One Two Three director Ashwini Dhir. Dutt is already working for Sunil’s EMI which is almost complete.
Sunil told us, “I have signed Sanjay Dutt for a film to be directed by Ashwini Dhir. It is a fantastic script between a child and Sanju. I see Sanju as a child so it makes two children in one film. I think this magic works brilliantly.”
“When I worked with Ashwini I realised he is a lot like Priyadarshan. He is a writer, director and has a great vision. He doesn’t demand but commands respect. I found him apt for my home production.” When quizzed what price has he signed Dutt for, Sunil replied, “I gave him a price that he deserved. I am not one of his friends or producers who would exploit him from money point of view. I will always give him a rupee more than what others are giving him because I believe he is worth it.” Talking about his relationship with Dutt, Sunil says, “He is like a brother to me and there are a lot of things unspoken between us and yet said. People say Sunil has always stood by Sanjay like a rock but it is actually the other way round. Today if any film goes to Sanju he will request the maker to take me also along with him in it and tell him the film will look better this way. Similarly, if I am working out to produce any project he will on his own tell me that he would like to be a part of it. It is actually a reversal of roles. He is the one who is supporting me and not vice versa.” “According to me EMI has Sanjay Dutt’s best performance ever and I can shout that from the roof top.
