Anil, who last worked work Ghai in Taal (1999), says, “In Black & White I’m playing an Urdu professor from Lucknow’s Zakir Hussain College. He lives in Chandni Chowk with wife and daughter. I can’t talk much about the role but it will come as a great shock for all my fans who have seen and liked me in Welcome.”
Anil feels that this is the right time for a film from Black & White to come out. He explains, “The audience wants to watch something new and different. Apart from that, the film also has a social massage not only for our country but the universe. The movie is very practical with realistic performances from each and every character with whom the audience will identify.”
The film will also see the debut of Anurag Sinha as the parallel lead. “Mr. Ghai has the knack of spotting talent and Anurag is definitely one. When I met him during the formal introduction before shooting, I told Mr. Ghai that he is going to make his mark in the industry. I noticed this while shooting as well and I am sure the audience will like him,” says the veteran actor in the praise of the newcomer.
The music of the film by Sukhwinder Singh is quite different. About it, he says, “I am not sure about other things but my judgment about music can never go wrong. I had said that the music of Taal or Kisna will do very well and it did. Same is the case with Black & White. Even after five years, people would like to listen to the music of the film. My favourite song is Main Chala’.”
And finally, what does he have to say about Mr. Ghai with whom his association dates back to the Meri Jung (1985) days, “Not only me but all the actors and directors of the current generation from Aditya Chopra to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and David Dhavan have only one thing to say – ‘we have learned so many things from his films’,” Anil concludes.
