From now on superstar Shah Rukh Khan means business and not just where his films are concerned.
King Khan has a new idea to expand his company, Red Chillies - he wants a piece of the overall profits. Khan doesn’t have a particular percentage set as yet but he plans to stake a claim starting from his very next film with Yash Raj.
“Shah Rukh has very big plans for Red Chillies. From building studios to getting into animation on a huge scale and producing movies, SRK wants to do all of it. It’s not about the money for him anymore. He sees a lot of potential in his company and thinks it makes sense to get into the business side of things,” says a source.
The star, who is reported to charge filmmakers close to the 10-crore mark for a film, is now ready to drop his price a great deal if he gets the share in profits.
“SRK has made enough money. Therefore he is ready to do films at a lesser rate or sometimes even free provided he gets to produce or co-produce the film. He sees Red Chillies as a very big banner in the future and this is how he is going about ensuring it. He isn’t saying it’s a fixed percentage that every filmmaker will have to give him – it will all depend on the filmmaker, the banner, his role in the film, etc.,” says the source.
The buzz in the industry suggests that Khan is in talks with Aditya Chopra for entering into a deal with Yash Raj’s next flick with SRK titled Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Although no decision has been made as yet, sources suggest that Khan has met with Adi to discuss how he can get involved into the business side of things.
SRK – The Businessman
This is not the first time that SRK has ensured that his stardom helps increase business profits for his company Red Chillies. The actor’s ads for his various endorsements are produced by Red Chillies. In fact an ad featuring Kareena for a paint company which was directed by Karan Johar was also produced by Red Chillies.
