For the first time after the Mumbai attacks, actress Bipasha Basu has revealed how close she was to terror.
The actress has been keeping quiet all this while because she has been feeling “vulnerable and helpless”. But now that the tragedy has finally sunk in and a new movement among citizens has begun, Bipasha can speak out.
Bipasha has told a news agency that on 26/11, she was returning from Film City and was caught in one of the spots that terrorists had targeted.
"It happened at Vile Parle as I crossed the area. There was mayhem on the road as my staff and I sat huddled in our car wondering what to do next. Should we go forward? Or go back? I told my driver to drive in the middle of the road as fast as possible," Bipasha is quoted by IANS.
Though the actress admits she was shocked by the incident and felt unsafe, she is happy that people have come out en mass to hold the authorities to account and to stay united.
“I do believe in the mass movement that Mumbai has been seeing over the last three weeks. I think people lighting candles, holding hands, showing their solidarity, speaking out...it’s all very effective…I thought this movement would die down after the first few days. But now I feel it’s not losing momentum. "
Incidentally, Bipasha is set to shoot her movie Lamhaa in Kashmir in January next year. She plays a Kashmiri girl.
