Maanyata Dutt is very busy. And very stressed. She is busy because she wants to organize the biggest and the most effective rally for Mumbai and stressed because she wants to make sure that only the right message is sent across to the politicians and rest of the world.
Following the terror strikes in Mumbai, Maanyata has been getting together with like minded friends to help form a group called We The People that can demand answers. She is joined by Sanjay’s manager, Dharam Uberoi’s daughter Neha Uberoi as well Farhan Azmi.
“We are a group of like minded, frustrated yet motivated citizens of India, who are angry at the violation of basic human rights and freedom, at the two destructive hands of terrorism and politics. The terrorists are exploiting the loopholes in our system, radically created by our very wise politicians; primary motive being the safety of their beloved chair, even if that means boycotting security measures and harmony- in the name of vote bank politics,” says Dutt.
Maanyata will be joining hands with thousands of Mumbaikars as well as many faces from Bollywood including Karan Johar, Arjun Rampal and Farhan Akhtar in a protest rally at the Gateway of India.
“A Walk by one of the groups representing us, at the Protest for Gateway starts from ST. Xavier College at 5.00pm and walks across Cama Hospital, CST and proceeds to the Gateway for the main event,” informs the group.
And going by the plans Maanyata and her friends have made, it looks like they mean business.
“We are putting together a front in the name of We The People and our set out at uniting the citizens of our City and channelizing their wrath, anger and urge to do something - into a movement. A front that will negotiate on behalf of the rest of the Citizens, for their demands with our politicians saying “Hey, here are our demands, and here are the votes that will make the difference! Sign our Memorandum of Understanding to meet our demands, with the activation of your office or we use Section 49- 0 and on the basis of our strength, tilt the poll.”
“We also need a stabilised approach to our queries regarding taxes to be answered immediately by the Government. We want to know, a complete transparent report on every rupee given by the Financial Capital to the Centre,” she adds.
The group says that they are more than happy to have as many people join them. They just have a simple funda for anyone who wants to help.
“Please leave your Egos and Personal Agendas aside, we are not here to cater to individual motives, we are here because we are troubled and tired, and now want to stand up, chasing the Dream of a Safe, Peaceful and Happy Life in Aamchi Mumbai!”
