Actress Juhi Chawla rings in her birthday today. The bubbly actress of the Eighties is today happier playing mother and wife, sometime business partner to Shah Rukh Khan, her one time co star, than facing the camera. There is also the fact that fewer roles are being written for older actresses.

With money no longer being a priority, it has to be a special role or a special film, which would entice the actress out of her South Mumbai residence. Juhi was last seen in a delightful cameo in Zoya Akhtar’s ’Luck By Chance’, earlier this year. The actress was in fine form in a role which was truly comical, a genre she really excels at. In fact, more than romantic or emotional roles, it is comedy which was Juhi’s forte.

Her bubbly demeanor, her sparkling smile and mobile expressions, along with an inherent sense of timing, makes her rank among the best in the world where comedy is concerned. But unfortunately, she never did get the opportunity to fully exploit that side of her as an actress. There was a lot more that she could have done. Juhi first shot into fame as Aamir Khan’s love interest in ’Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’. Besides Aamir, with whom she formed a good jodi on screen, the actress also gelled very well with Shah Rukh .

In fact, most of her successful films came opposite SRK. The two co stars were not only good friends, but also partners in a production house, and today they are partners in business as well, both holding shares in the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Kolkata based IPL cricket team. She paired up with Rishi Kapoor too in a number of films which actually did quite well at the box office.

Juhi may not be ever remembered in annals of Indian cinema as among being among the great actresses of all times, but there was always something very charming and pleasing about her screen presence that endeared her to all. In a sense, Juhi has lived a complete life. She has been a model, a beauty queen, a leading actress and now a successful mother and wife. We would like to wish the actress a very happy birthday and also wish that we get to see more of her on screen in the next year.
