With every film he does, Abhay Deol tries to raise the bar for himself. The quest, he says, is to do something that no actor has done before.
“As an actor I want to do something that has never been seen before... I want to try the zone that has never been tried by anyone. I want to surprise my audience with every film,” Abhay is quoted as saying by a news agency.
The actor recently signed up for director Dibakar Banerjee’s next film Shanghai, which is adapted from the book called ’Z’ by Greek novelist Vassilis Vassilikos. The movie is based on the real-life assassination of a dynamic politician.
“The story dwells on how people are at the receiving end of politics. How the decisions taken by politicians affect a common man,” Abhay said.
He will share the screen space with Emraan Hashmi in the film. The shooting is expected to begin in March or April this year. Abhay plays a negative role.
“In this film I will be in a never seen character like before... it is a negative, cold, vicious character,” the 34-year-old actor said.
